Mitsubishi Discontinues Development Of 'SpaceJet' Regional Airliner

Japanese manufacturer Mitsubishi has officially announced the discontinuation of its 'SpaceJet' regional airliner series. It had hoped to produce twin-engine regional jets similar to those offered by Embraer, but the initiative never reached commercial production. After initially being paused, it has now been terminated.

Flybe's Administrators Have Applied For Another Operating License

On Wednesday, the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) announced that collapsed airline Flybe's administrators had applied for a temporary air operator certificate (AOC). If successful, this does not mean that the twice-folded airline's flights would resume right away. You can find out more about this interesting development here.

Comair Sues Boeing Over 737 MAX Purchases

Defunct airline Comair has sued Boeing for fraud over its agreement to buy eight 737 MAX planes. The former carrier is seeking damages of at least $83 million.

Air New Zealand Hosts Special Flight For Children With Disabilities

On Saturday, February 4th, Air New Zealand took off from Invercargill Airport with 30 children onboard as the carrier chartered a special flight as part of Koru Care Southland. The charitable trust works with children suffering from various illnesses and disabilities and organizes various activities and outings for the children, and this time, the children got airborne. Pegasus Airlines Operates Free Relief Flights To Assist Turkey's Earthquake-Affected Zones

The Turkish carrier Pegasus Airlines has announced it is carrying out relief flights to support the earthquake-affected zones throughout Turkey. On February 6th, a powerful 7.8 earthquake struck southern and central Turkey and western Syria, which has led to over 21,000 deaths thus far. Between February 6 and 8, 2023, Pegasus Airlines operated a total of 22 relief flights and 86 civilian passenger flights.

Ryanair To Base 11th Aircraft In Edinburgh For Bumper Summer Schedule

Ryanair has announced an expansion to its Edinburgh base, where, this summer, it will base an extra aircraft, bringing its total to 11. This will facilitate a 25%+ year-on-year capacity boost, as well as the introduction of six new routes. The growth will help the airline handle close to five million passengers a year in Edinburgh.
