A mother and daughter got into a brawl at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) on January 30. After being stung with excess baggage charges, the pair decided to physically take it out on the airline staff. Onlookers got quite a show as the fight erupted in Terminal E at around 19:30.
The 39 and 17-year-olds took matters into their own hands when they physically attacked Spirit Airlines, airport staff. The two had been penalized due to the oversized cabin bag they attempted to carry onboard their flight to Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport (FLL).
Fighting in just a bra
As reported by the Daily Mail, the fight escalated quickly, with the mother and daughter clawing at staff; shockingly, the 39-year-old mother lost her shirt and shoes in the brawl, leaving her fighting in just her bra. As the duo was dragged away from the counter, one attempted to grab a keyboard while a Spirit team member punched them in the head. Further reports state the teenager was seen pulling on the gate agent's dreadlocks as the fight ensued.
A security guard or unmarked police officer eventually arrived and stopped the brawl. There have been no reports of arrest since.

Another passengers perspective
As viewed on the jetbridge for the flight headed to Fort Lauderdale, a passenger commented to the Daily Mail what they saw of the almighty scene:
"I don't know exactly who started it, but there was a lot of yelling and I turned around to see two Spirit employees fighting a mother and daughter. Someone was bleeding. At one stage a child got involved. Regardless of what he did, he's just a kid - he looked distraught. If this is the way Spirit Airlines operates, it's really scary."
With another passenger noting:
"I was shocked at how violent it was and how long it went on for."

Another baggage drama unfolded this week.
This incident follows a potential bomb scare at Orlando International Airport (MCO) this week.
An irate passenger looking to travel from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to Pensacola International Airport (PNS) got upset about baggage fees with Spirit Airlines (NK). As the tension pursued, the traveler made a bomb threat.
Danny Curry and his wife were looking to travel to the north-western point of the Florida Panhandle. While complaining about carry-on baggage charges to a Spirit Airlines supervisor, Curry commented that passengers should deplane.
FBI, TSA, police and K-9s, and the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) responded to the call. All passengers were deplaned while the aircraft was thoroughly inspected, including checking over all checked luggage. Once authorities declared the flight was safe, NK1097 was free to depart.
Danny Curry now faces charges of reporting a false bomb, explosive, or weapon of mass destruction. Subsequently, Curry is also now trespassed from the airport. No doubt Spirit Airlines will be dubious about welcoming him back onboard, either.
