KLM passengers traveling in business class can visit (for free) one of two Crown Lounges at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS). The Schengen Crown Lounge is located in the Schengen concourse, whereas the Non-Schengen Crown Lounge is located at the Intercontinental concourse of the airport.

Access to the Crown Lounge

All other passengers can access the Crown Lounges for a fee (EUR 50 for the Schengen Crown Lounge and EUR 65 for the Non-Schengen Crown Lounge). Specific discounts apply to members of Flying Blue, Explorer, and Silver. Moreover, since KLM is as a member of SkyTeam, SkyTeam members can access the lounge. Flying Blue Platinum or Gold members can also bring additional guests to the lounge for a 25% discount.

To access a Crown Lounge, passengers, irrespective of the travel class or member status, must be traveling on the same day. The travel must be on a KLM-operated flight, an international SkyTeam-operated flight or a domestic SkyTeam-operated flight that is connected with a SkyTeam-operated international flight.

According to a Crown Lounge manager,

“This lounge offers a variety of different spaces for visitors. We can accommodate more than 500 people at a time, depending on the space configuration. We periodically change the seating configuration depending on how busy we expect to get.”

The Crown Lounge on the Schengen side is open daily from 04:45 to 22:00. The lounge can be accessed by scanning the boarding pass at one of several scanners in the lounge's lobby. In case of a problem, the service agents at the nearby service desk are available to help.

These KLM-blue chairs complement the dark brown sofas in the coffee corner. According to service desk personnel,

“We have a range of lounge chairs that can be accommodated in various areas across the lounge. Depending on the lounge occupancy, we frequently add more lounge chairs to the central and business areas of the lounge. We see an influx of passengers in and out of the lounge during peak summer times. To accommodate more guests, we have to request more staff on the floor.”

The coffee corner can accommodate more than a hundred people at one time. Once again, a variety of power points are in abundance in the coffee corner.

Food and beverages

A variety of foods and beverages are available for the guests in the center of the lounge. The central area has plenty of seating capacity with pedestal tables for two to four people spread across the area. The booth-style sofa with multiple armrests and power outlets is installed on the back wall of the dining area.
