India’s largest airline IndiGo continues to expand its domestic network and has announced Nasik in West India as its 77th destination. This comes soon after the airline revealed its impressive figures for the last quarter, suggesting a strong business recovery following the pandemic.

IndiGo to fly to Nasik

IndiGo has announced Nasik in the state of Maharashtra as its 77th domestic and 103rd overall destination. Starting March 15th, IndiGo will operate flights on the Nasik-Goa, Nasik-Ahmedabad, and Nasik-Nagpur routes.

Nasik will also become IndiGo’s 7th destination in Maharashtra. The others are Mumbai, Pune, Shirdi, Aurangabad, Kolhapur, and Nagpur. Currently, only two airlines fly to Nasik – SpiceJet and Alliance Air. Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales, IndiGo, commented,

“We are pleased to announce Nasik as our 77th destination in the 6E network. The new direct connections will enhance accessibility, while promoting trade, tourism, and mobility. Nasik will now be connected to multiple domestic and international destinations through the 6E network. Nasik is well-known for its historical and cultural significance. Therefore, the addition of direct flights in the summer schedule will provide more options for the tourists who wish to visit Nasik. We will continue to uphold our promise of providing a courteous, on-time, hassle-free, and affordable travel experience across a wide network.”

Busy year

IndiGo recently revealed the results of its third quarter ending in December 2022. The carrier posted a net profit of ₹14,226 million ($172.8 million), an almost 11-fold increase on last year. At its peak, IndiGo was operating 1,685 daily flights to almost 100 domestic and international destinations.

Unsurprisingly, Delhi was its top travel city in 2022, recording almost 63,000 landings and take-offs each. Its busiest route was between Delhi and Bengaluru, carrying more than 800,000 passengers in 2022.

Overall, IndiGo flew around 78 million passengers last year, including around 7.6 million international travelers and almost 19 million business travelers.

IndiGo also exceeded its pre-pandemic international capacity at 105% of 2019 levels and is keen on partnerships that would enable it to expand its global network further.
