IndiGo continues to capture a larger share of the international market and has announced several new flights to the Middle East. The airline is doubling down on its international offerings and has also revealed more connections to Europe via Istanbul through its partnership with Turkish Airlines.

New flights to the Middle East

From March 26th, IndiGo will further increase its presence in the Middle East by operating daily new flights on the Abu Dhabi-Hyderabad, Chennai-Muscat, and Abu Dhabi-Chennai routes. Flights from India to the Gulf have only increased in the last few years, and IndiGo's new services will provide more options for customers planning vacations and business trips to and from the Middle East.

Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales, says that these new flights cater to the increasing demand between India and the Middle East, such as medical students and tourists traveling to Muscat and Abu Dhabi.

New connections to Europe

IndiGo is also squeezing the maximum out of its codeshare partnership with Turkish Airlines. It had previously announced connecting flights to various destinations in Portugal, Switzerland, France, Italy, England, and Austria.

And now, the low-cost carrier has added nine more countries to that list, taking the total number of countries it connects to in Europe to 15. The latest additions are Malta, Hungary, Belgium, Israel, Ireland, the Czech Republic, The Netherlands, Greece, and Denmark. IndiGo now operates 335 average weekly codeshare flights to 15 countries in Europe.

IndiGo will operate two daily flights to Malta, Budapest, Dublin, Prague, Amsterdam, Athens, and Copenhagen and three daily flights to Brussels and Tel Aviv. These new connections have been added after observing an increase in demand for outbound travel to Europe as air travel sees a strong resurgence in 2023. Vinay Malhotra commented,

“We have witnessed a strong demand for international travel and especially to Europe last year. These connecting flights will not only add capacity, but also provide convenient travel options for people looking to travel between India and Europe. We are confident that with the resurgence of international travel, these exciting options will offer people multiple choices for their travel this summer.”

IndiGo exceeded its pre-pandemic international capacity at 105% of 2019 levels in the last quarter, and its top executives also believe that international business will probably grow faster compared to domestic. Last year, IndiGo flew around 78 million passengers, including around 7.6 million international travelers.
