Canadian ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) Flair Airlines is growing its route network with the announcement of a new coast-to-coast route between Windsor and Vancouver. The airline said on Monday that flights would commence during the peak summer travel season.
The announcement of launching the new service is in line with the carrier's goal to increase its summer 2023 capacity by 50%. Flair also confirmed its plans to add seven new aircraft by this summer.
Twice weekly service
The direct flights between Windsor International Airport and Vancouver International Airport will start on June 10, 2023, according to CTV News Windsor. The service will operate twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Garth Lund, Flair Airlines' Chief Commercial Officer, said in a news release that the carrier is pleased to enlarge its route network.
“Windsor has been an important market for us, and we’re excited to increase our service in and out of the airport with the addition of service to Vancouver. We want to give Windsorites affordable options to travel across the country, coast to coast, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with Windsor International Airport.”
The President and CEO of Windsor International Airport, Mark Galvin, is hopeful that more in-demand destinations will be on the horizon for Windsor.
"Vancouver has been on every poll we do — it's always on the list of destinations," Galvin said. "And, yes, certainly – we're always talking to airline partners both existing and potential, about routes and destinations that we think people want to go and connect them to those routes."

What's on a Flair flight?
Passengers onboard a Flair Airlines flight are reportedly met with several inflight amenities, despite flying on an ULCC. The airline said there is something for everyone, including buy-on-board services for food, beverages, and snack items. According to the inflight menu, there are three different combos that passengers can choose from for purchase.
Combo 1, the cheapest combo, comprises any drink, including bottled water, orange juice, apple juice, assorted sodas, iced tea, coffee, black tea, peppermint, tea, and a sweet muffin. The second, slightly more expensive combo consists of a breakfast sandwich or pasta carbonara, a drink, and a snack: chocolate, chips, nuts, or a Clif bar. And the third most expensive combo includes a personal pizza, drink, and a snack.
There are also popular games for passengers' enjoyment, such as Cut the Rope and 2048. In addition, the carrier offers premium entertainment from Super Channel, the National Film Board of Canada. All amenities can be accessed onboard through the airline's app.
Growing in Windsor
One-way fares from Windsor to Vancouver begin at C$49 ($37), including taxes and fees. The airline said flights are available on its website, with limited seats and availability for the fares.
Vancouver marks Flair's third destination from Windsor after Halifax and Tucson, Arizona. Late last year, Flair inaugurated service to the southern Arizona city from Edmonton and Fort McMurray in northern Alberta. Both are served seasonally with Boeing 737-800 or 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
