Azul Linheas Aéreas has started to sell tickets for its new route connecting Belo Horizonte’s Confins International Airport (CNF) to the Caribbean island of Curaçao (CUR). The service, which will launch on June 24th, was announced last week following a meeting between the Brazilian airline, Confins International Airport, and representatives from both Minas Gerais state and the island of Curaçao.
Flights will operate as per the following schedule:
Flight Number | Route | Departure | Arrival | Frequency |
AD8787 | Belo Horizonte - Curaçao | 13:00 | 18:00 | Saturdays |
AD8786 | Curaçao - Belo Horizonte | 08:30 | 16:00 | Sundays |
Azul’s onboard service
The new flights to Curaçao will be operated by one of Azul’s 43 Airbus A320neo aircraft, each carrying 174 passengers in an all-economy configuration. In line with the airline’s international service standards, passengers who have purchased a Mais Azul ticket fare will be offered a hot meal accompanied by a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
The airline’s basic fare, however, includes only carry-on baggage and no in-flight catering. All passengers will be able to pass time on the six-hour flight with Azul’s on-demand in-flight entertainment and free high-speed WiFi.

Timed for connections nationwide
Curiously, the aircraft will spend the night at Curaçao Airport before heading back to Belo Horizonte the following morning. This is presumably because the flights have been conveniently timed to connect with the airline’s extensive network from Belo Horizonte, reaching passengers from all over Brazil, including the cities of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Goiânia, Brasília, and Vitória.
Azul’s network planning manager, Vitor Silva, welcomed the launch of the new route, and highlighted the connection opportunities for passengers, saying,
“With the new flight from Confins, the options will become much more comfortable for customers who want to spend their holidays in the Caribbean, and those originating from São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Goiânia, Brasília, and Vitória will be able to connect in no more than 90 minutes at Belo Horizonte. This is possible because Azu’s network connects customers from various airports to our hubs. We are excited and ready to start operating this new international route. Curaçao is a fantastic destination, with several heavenly beaches, breathtaking walks, and very welcoming people.”
Ongoing international expansion from Belo Horizonte
Azul is by far the market leader at Confins International Airport, located in Belo Horizonte, the sixth-largest city in Brazil and capital of Minas Gerais state. Last week, the airline revealed its plans to further expand its international network from the airport by resuming services to the US.
With its Airbus A330 aircraft, Azul will link Belo Horizonte to both Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Orlando International Airport (MCO), with services expected to begin later this year.
