Breeze Airways has announced 22 non-stop routes, plus more 'BreezeThru' one-stops. The subject of this article, the 22 non-stops include more transcontinental flying and the launch of Portland (Maine) as the airline's next airport. It comes shortly after it began Cincinnati. To make the coming routes more readable, I've broken them into two tables based on the start date.

13 won't have direct competition

As Breeze primarily focuses on unserved routes, it's fitting that 13 of the 22 (59%) won't have head-to-head competition. Seven haven't had flights before, at least not in the past 30+ years.

You'll see from the tables that, where it makes sense, Breeze reacts to gaps and readymade markets following the exit of another operator.

For example, while Southwest serves Providence-Tampa, JetBlue, and Frontier ended it last year, so the opportunity for Breeze. Of course, this approach is no different from other carriers.

Routes starting May 17th-19th

Hartford to Fort Myers is one of three to begin on May 17th. It will compete against JetBlue, with Spirit and Southwest not operating this summer. Indeed, it's usually a winter route for them, so presumably, they will be back. Three of the routes mentioned in this table haven't had flights before. They include Charleston to Portland (Maine), which had approximately 11,000 roundtrip passengers last April-September, according to booking data.

You'll see from the following table how Breeze schedules some of its flights. For example, aircraft and crew will fly Jacksonville-Pittsburgh-Islip-Pittsburgh-Jacksonville and Norfolk-Portland (Maine)-Pittsburgh-Portland-Norfolk. So-called 'W' flights are pretty commonplace for Breeze.
